Be aware of your surroundings and potential dangers
.
Note the nearest two exits wherever you go.

If in an office, stay there and secure the door.

If in a hallway, enter a room and secure the door.

As a last resort, try to incapacitate the shooter when they’re at close range and escape isn’t possible.

Call 911 when it’s safe to do so.

How to Respond in an Active Shooter Situation:
Evacuate if there’s a safe path.

Hide if evacuation isn’t possible.

Take action against the shooter only as a last resort when your life is in imminent danger.

When law enforcement arrives, follow their instructions, keep your hands visible, and don’t make sudden movements.

Training Your Staff:

Develop an Emergency Action Plan (EAP) and conduct training exercises to prepare staff for active shooter situations. Work with local law enforcement to design training exercises.
